Plant Protection is a site-specific sculpture commenting on greenwashing and power by the agrichemical industry. The plastic pesticide bottles full of “wonder chemicals” are sold in popular hardware chains with the seductive idea of controlling nature. The tower of gilded waste asks viewers to consider the environmental and social impact of pesticides and highlights the absurdity of putting toxic chemicals on a pedestal of admiration. Paradoxically, covering the pesticide bottles in gold glitter both celebrates and neutralizes these dangerous chemicals.
